Maximum Likelihood Estimation for Directional Conditionally Autoregressive Models

A spatial process observed over a lattice or a set of irregular regions is usually modeled using a conditionally autoregressive (CAR) model. The neighborhoods within a CAR model are generally formed using only the inter-distances between the regions. To accommodate the effect of directions, a new class of spatial models is developed using different weights given to neighbors in different direct...

Semi-parametric efficiency bounds for regression models under generalised case-control sampling: the profile likelihood approach

We obtain an information bound for estimates of parameters in general regression models where data is collected under a variety of response-selective sampling schemes. The asymptotic variances of the semi-parametric estimates of Scott and Wild (1986, 1997, 2001) are compared to the bound and the estimates are found to be fully efficient.

Likelihood and Parametric Heteroscedasticity in Normal Connected Linear Models

A linear model in which the mean vector and covariance matrix depend on the same parameters is connected. Limit results for these models are presented. The characteristic function of the gradient of the score is obtained for normal connected models, thus, enabling the study of maximum likelihood estimators. A special case with diagonal covariance matrix is studied.

Statistics 612: Regular Parametric Models and Likelihood Based Inference

I will not describe the underlying assumptions in details. These are the usual sorts of assumptions one makes for parametric models, in order to be able to establish sensible results. See Page 11 of Chapter 3 of Wellner’s notes for a detailed description of the conditions involved. For a multidimensional parametric model {p(x, θ) : θ ∈ Θ ⊂ Rk}, the information matrix I(θ) is given by: I(θ) = Eθ...

Nonparametric likelihood ratio model selection tests between parametric likelihood and moment condition models

We propose a nonparametric likelihood ratio testing procedure for choosing between a parametric (likelihood) model and a moment condition model when both models could be misspecified. Our procedure is based on comparing the Kullback–Leibler Information Criterion (KLIC) between the parametric model and moment condition model. We construct the KLIC for the parametric model using the difference be...
